Niagara Children’s Centre’s Gait Lab uses advanced video and motion capture technology in order to assess the child’s:
- Balance
- Stability
- Speed
- Movement control
- Symmetry
- Limb and trunk motion
- Weight transfer
- Foot type and placement
The outcome of a gait analysis may include recommendations for:
- Custom ankle foot orthotics
- Stretching and strengthening exercise program
Normal paediatric gait is complex, but atypical gait is even more complex as seen in children with cerebral palsy. Gait analysis through the Centre’s Gait Lab is provided by a physiotherapist with advanced practice training.
