Growing Inclusion: DSBN Summer Camp
Program Highlights Summer of Inclusion
Summer looked a little different at Niagara Children’s Centre this year — and that was something worth celebrating.
In partnership with the District School Board of Niagara, we launched a new two-week summer camp designed specifically for children and youth living with significant physical disabilities and multiple exceptionalities. Held from August 11–15 and August 18–22, the pilot program welcomed campers ages 4 to 18 for days filled with creativity, movement, friendship, and inclusive play.
From crafts and songs to pool time and outdoor games, every activity was thoughtfully adapted to ensure each camper could fully participate and feel included. Whether children were splashing in the pool, exploring sensory activities, or sharing stories and laughter with peers, the camp created opportunities for connection, confidence, and joy.
The program also provided families with a supportive and accessible environment where children could build friendships and enjoy meaningful summer experiences alongside others with similar needs.
The success of the pilot program was made possible through the support of staff, volunteers, community partners, and families who helped create a welcoming space where every child belonged.
